The American International School, Salzburg is a private, co-educational, non-sectarian boarding school. Founded in 1976, it is an independent non-profit organization serving the needs of English-speaking families living in the international community. The academic program at The American International School, Salzburg is designed to prepare students for entrance to selective colleges and universities in the United States and throughout the world. Toward these ends, the American college preparatory curriculum (including Advanced Placement exams) program is offered. All teachers hold university degrees; most hold graduate degrees and are certified in their subject areas. Approximately 30% of the students are North Americans whose parents are employed overseas. The student body represents some 18 nationalities. Over 90% of all graduates go on to four-year College.

The English play Corner offers an English environment. All staff speaks English among themselves. The children learn the English language in a natural and playful way. The language is, just as the mother tongue, acquired through the daily routine.
At the beginning of single words and short sentences later be taken over by the children, until they finally feel safe enough to form from the learned language elements even sentences.
